Summertime Fun with the Ballards

The kids have been outside all day everyday.
The Ballard's came over to hang out and play in the sprinkler.

Preston and Jack
They are so cute together. For the most part they get along pretty well.
hugging the neighbor Logan
and
Booty shaking it!

Jack did NOT believe me when I told him he could drink out of the hose!
It comes straight from the house and is a new hose....
finally when he actually took a drink he thought it was so fun!
Jack came up to me "Mama, take a picture of my HUGE muscles!"
That evening we had lots of corn on the cob and barbecued some hot dogs and chicken!
So yummy! I LOVE summer nights!

The next day Lisa and I took the kids to this fun splash pad place in highland!
It was built while we were living in Arizona. I have a feeling we will be spending a lot more time there this summer!
Ella and Paige kind of hung out close at first before running off to make new friends and have fun on their own
My cousin Sami came to hang out for a little while before work
My kids sure love you Sami!
Don't you LOVE Brielle's bikini and sunglasses!?
Jack was taking a little while to get used to the idea of the little river.
He was tried from staying up so late the night before too...

Our little spot
I was so HOT! I don't know how much water I drank!
I LOVE Jack's face! He finally got into it!

Presto!

As soon as we were done at the splash pad we all raced home, changed clothes and met up for the Lehi horse parade!
Jack and Ella love all of the little horses!
Jack kept asking "what's so stinky!?"

The Ballard clan. Poor Preston slept through the whole thing!
After the parade we walked over to a park to let the kids play.
Lisa got the girls an ice cream from the ice cream man.
It was Paige's FIRST time getting anything from an ice cream truck!
I LOVE summers in Utah!
Have I said that before!?
I'm serious! We have been having so much fun and the weather has been great!
We still have so much going on over the next couple of weeks!

Ella is 8 Years Old

I can't believe my baby is 8 years old!!
I can remember the day of her birth so clearly!

Her due date was June 19th
The night of the 19th was Lisa's bridal shower.
At the time Ryan and I were living in Park City, so on the long drive home that night up the canyon I started having contractions.
The next morning, the 20th my Mom and I went walking... All day long!
By that evening my contractions had become pretty regular and so my Mom and I decided we better call Ryan and have him come home from work.
But we couldn't get a hold of him!!
I started getting worried..... about a half an hour later he showed up at home!
He had decided to come home early.
We got in the car and started the drive down the canyon to the hospital!
Ryan was so sad that he couldn't speed the whole way, since my Mom had to follow in her car behind us.
We got to the hospital around 5pm and I got checked out. Only at 2 centimeters. Not enough to be admitted.
But by now the pain had really started hitting me hard.
We walked around the hospital for two hours, then checked again. Still not ready!
AH! Walked around the hospital for another hour before being checked again. Still no change!
I thought I was going to die!
My sweet Midwife came and talked to me and finally admitted me around 8pm.
I was so committed to having natural childbirth! My Mom had done it 10 times, so could I!
As soon as I sat down the on the bed my water broke!
I told a nurse, who didn't believe me. 10 minuets later she checked and sure enough, my water had broken!
Then the pain REALLY started hitting me!
Honestly, it was quite the shock to me! I thought I would be like my Mom!
NOPE!
Finally after trying many, many different things to get me comfortable and several more hours with still not one bit of change, my midwife came to me and said we needed to get the baby out.
She suggested that I get an epidural to help me feel less pain and therefore relax and maybe then I would be able to progress.
Sure enough within a couple of hours of getting an epidural I started making some progress.
Everyone was so tired, we all took a nap.
I woke up about 8:30 Sunday morning the 21st. After sleeping for three hours.
I felt so much better.
Quietly a nurse came in and checked me.
I was a 10!
We woke everyone up, but where was Ryan? My sister Sarah rushed to go find him!
He was in one of the waiting rooms, asleep, under a table.
At that point it all happened so fast!!
Ella was born on June 21st 2003 and 9:09am
In Salt Lake City, Utah
She weighed 7 pounds 9oz and 21 1/2 inches long!
She was long and skinny with lots of dark hair.
I will never forget the feeling I had when she was born.
I think it's the best feeling in the whole world!

And now it's 8 years later.
It makes me so sad.
Don't get me wrong, I am so proud of Ella and the sweet, kind, loving little girl that she has become. But at the same time it makes me so sad to think how fast time has gone by.
She's growing up!
She's my special buddy, my best friend and my first child.
Ella will always have a very special place in my heart!

Seriously, my kids LOVE taking jumping pictures!!!

Jack couldn't help himself, he had to jump in and have some pictures taken too!

My pretty girl!!!
Happy Birthday to my sweet Ella!!
Later that night Ryan and I drove down to Orem to Pirate Island Pizza to celebrate her her real birthday!
(Mom, he carried around that harmonica ALL NIGHT!)
While waiting for our friends to arrive we sat in the front where a pirate would come to life and talk!
Jack was terrified of course! Poor little guy!
Lisa and her family were able to come
and
the Bullard family!
We hadn't told Ella that Ava would be coming,
she was SO surprised and happy!!!
We have missed seeing the Bullards since moving back to Utah
It was so lucky that they were here in Utah visiting!

They played TONS of games!!
I don't know how much money we spent on those dang games....
Preston and Jack
Ella and Ava. Dilly, just like his Daddy!
Ella got LOTS of tickets!
Poor Jack at the end of the night I asked him for all of his tickets so we could count them and get him a prize. 3. He had three! Hehehehehehehehe!
He spent most of his coins on the motorcycle game!

Ella and her little cake
We ate pizza, breadsticks and drank lots of soda
Then we sang happy birthday and ate lots of cake too!
The Bullards and Ballards!
Thank you all for coming!!
It made Ella's day!!!
Ella's birthday fun is over............ or is it!?
Now we are getting excited for her Baptism coming up in September!!!

Fathers Day Weekend

Ella and Ryan
For Christmas last year I bought Ryan tickets to several Real Salt Lake soccer games
Ryan LOVES soccer!
Even though he had tons of homework that weekend I was glad he was able to find time to go to a game. This time he had Ella tag along!
Even though Real tied, they still had a good time!

Ella said she had so much fun! Especially when Daddy bought her a special treat!
Poor Ryan, in the chaos of trying to get out of the stadium he
LOST his WALLET!
We called the stadium and they hadn't seen it. We cancelled all of Ryan's credit and debit cards.
Then Monday morning Ryan got an e-mail from a former coworker saying that someone had found his wallet and was trying to find him!
Yeah!!!!
I called the guy- But he wasn't the one who had found the wallet. He was the boss over a construction crew and it was one of his crewmen, a Mexican gentleman who did not speak English very well, who had found it at the stadium. I guess while at the stadium he found the wallet under a chair and opened the wallet and tried to find Ryan from his drivers license picture, but to no avail. He was too embarrassed to take it to anyone at the stadium for fear that they would think he stolen it. So that night he drove all the way down to Lehi, based on Ryan's drivers license address, to our old house to try and return it. But we had moved. Monday he gave it to his boss who then looked through the wallet and called every number in it trying to get a hold of anyone who knew where Ryan was. Finally contacting Ryan's former coworker who only knew Ryan's e-mail address.
We were so thrilled that two kind, honest people went to so much trouble to return Ryan's wallet! I'm so glad that there are still people like that out there!
What a blessing!!

Sunday after church we just hung out, it was pretty stormy outside.
The kids love making a big bed out of all the couch cushions!
Poor Ryan had to study all night, but we had big dinner and gave him some presents.
Love you Ryan, thank you for being such a wonderful father to our children!
They are truly blessed to have you! And I am too!
Happy Fathers Day!
